I have been thinking a lot lately about how I can make more of a difference in the world. As I discussed in my conversation with Shalini, I am not necessarily able or inclined to get heavily involved in activism on all of the fronts that I might care about. However, I still want to think more carefully about doing my bit. I don’t want to contribute to making the problems of the planet any worse.
In one way, that involves being more consistent with recycling, re-using, reducing waste, taking my cloth bags everytime I shop, using products with less chemicals, less plastic packaging, buying from zero waste shops where possible.
On another level, I can educate myself and think more carefully about my interactions with others, embracing other-ness and differences rather than seeing them as a threat.
And professionally, I can get involved with organizations and projects that seek to make the world a better place. I can contribute my skillset, story and knowledge to as big an audience as I can. The next opportunity coming up is the BeChooseCause virtual conference, designed to equip attendees with ways of finding their voice for social progress and explore how to contribute to systemic solutions.
I will be speaking on Friday 11th September 2020 at 2pm EST about how we can create space in our lives to get involved in a cause we feel strongly about. I will cover my de-cluttering model as well as provide a tool to help create some mental capacity and space. And for the coaches out there, this is a tool that can be used for yourselves as well as with your clients!
Take a look at the agenda and grab your ticket today for 1 session, 1 day, 2 days or the whole conference. See you there!
